Following the success of the 10th edition of the spectacular nighttime parallel giant slalom of the Snowboard World Cup, held last Saturday on the Tondi di Faloria slope, Cortina d’Ampezzo is now gearing up for the second major sporting event of the 2024–2025 season: the 2025 Cortina Audi FIS Ski World Cup. With one month to go until the women’s Alpine Ski World Cup, work has commenced on setting up the Rumerlo area, the finish zone of the Olympia delle Tofane, a slope that has symbolized the pinnacle of speed events for women’s World Cup skiing since the early 1990s. Athletes will race down the “Queen of Speed” on January 18 and 19, in the downhill and super-G, respectively.
The work to construct the finish area began in recent days, and thanks to favorable weather conditions, it has progressed quickly in collaboration with Dolomiti Strade, Franco Clò, Sartoretto, Eurotend, and Elettricità Cortina.
The platform is prepared, the grandstand with 1.000 seats, the structure for television commentators’ booths are set up as well as the Tofana Lounge, a covered area of 800 square meters. The basic construction of the grandstand and Tofana Lounge will be completed by December 20. After the Christmas break, work will resume on January 7 to finalize all setups and organize spaces for TV crews, technical staff from various national teams, the Parterre area, the Prosecco DOC Sparkling Corner, and public access zones.
